SLC34A2编码蛋白是pH敏感的钠依赖性磷酸盐转运蛋白。在较低pH值下磷酸盐吸收增加。该基因发生缺陷可以引起肺泡微石症。研究显示，沉默SLC34A2可以有效抑制肺癌肿瘤干细（carcinoma-initiating cells,CICs）的侵袭和增殖能力，并使JAK/STAT信号通路中的P-JAK和P-STAT蛋白表达相应降低；即沉默SLC34A2基因可能通过调控JAK/STAT信号通路来抑制肺癌CICs的侵袭和增殖。SLC34A2-ROS1融合起到致癌作用。
The protein encoded by SLC34A2 gene is a pH-sensitive sodium-dependent phosphate transporter. Phosphate uptake is increased at lower pH. Defects in this gene are a cause of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene.
